Children’s Future Hillsborough was created through the merger of two large collaborations in 2004 to form one larger system of care with a twenty member partnership and a common mission to meet the diverse needs of young children and their families in Hillsborough County. The Early Intervention Consortium (EIC) and Family And School Support Teams (FASST) projects were successful in their own right but through Children’s Future Hillsborough, an opportunity existed to create a new paradigm, a new way of doing business that accentuates the most effective elements of social service collaboration. The new partnership also effectively developed a larger system of care designed for young children and their families.

Today, there are significant challenges within our community including ensuring that babies are born healthy and strong, insuring that toddlers are developing appropriately, that young children enter Kindergarten ready to learn and those students in elementary school progress socially, emotionally and academically. Additionally, for those families who have children with special needs, it is essential that parents are aware of, and have access to services and supports for their kids. Children’s Future Hillsborough assists in all of these areas as well as in assisting families with navigating through the community resource network and the school district.

With funding from the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County and supplemental financial support from the School District of Hillsborough County, Children’s Future Hillsborough's focus is on early intervention and prevention with a myriad of services and supports for children and families including:

• Countywide home, school and community based services
• Prenatal education, training and birth support
• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit screening and follow-up
• Inclusionary pre-schools
• Developmental screening and assessments
• Home visitation
• Case management and family support
• Specialized therapy services (occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech)
• Parent support groups
• Literacy activities
• Parent Leadership Training

Children’s Future Hillsborough is an integrated network of services and supports designed to meet the diverse needs of young children and their families in Hillsborough County. Through collaboration and coordination, Children’s Future Hillsborough offers prevention and early intervention along a continuum of care for children and families to foster healthy births, school readiness and early school success.

Since its inception in 2004, Children’s Future Hillsborough has been committed to system of care values and principles with a project that is strength based, family driven and utilizes culturally competent practice. Through our partnership with families and other community providers, Children’s Future Hillsborough is helping children and families achieve success in their homes, schools, neighborhoods and community.
