Family Support Activities
In addition to the formal services listed previously, Children’s Future Hillsborough provides family support services that seek to include families in program planning and implementation, social support activities and system of care development. AFamilyLeadershipCouncil, consisting of parents who receive services from the network, was created to give parents a voice in how services are being delivered to families and to ensure a family driven model. Dinner and child care are provided to make it easier for parents to participate on the council. Meetings are held monthly from 6-8pm. Other collaborative activities include parent support groups and family fun picnics.
Collaborative Partnerships
The twenty members of Children’s Future Hillsborough have entered into a formal relationship based upon a common mission and vision, and a foundation built on basic system of care values and principles. This collaboration embraces services that are evidence based, culturally competent, individualized, and developed in partnership with parents and families. The network achieves its stated outcomes, goals and objectives through effective communication, coordination and collaboration.
Continuous Quality Improvement
Children’s Future Hillsborough is committed to providing services that are founded on best practices (evidence based) and system of care values and principles. In conjunction with the University of South Florida’s Florida Mental Health Institute, the project has implemented an innovative peer review process to ensure adherence to those values and fidelity to best practices across the collaboration. This process involves chart reviews, interviews with staff and family members being served by the respective program, and critical observations of how family/team meetings are conducted. This is a “coaching” model designed to provide constructive feedback to staff and supervisors in order to enhance their work with families.
Family LeadershipCouncil
Mission Statement: The Children’s Future Hillsborough Family Leadership Council is dedicated to empowering families and promoting parental ownership through a collective voice and support system that allows for families to become self-sufficient partners in the community.
The FamilyLeadershipCouncil represents the family voice so important to our overall goal of family driven care. In addition to formal services for families, Children’s Future provides family support services that seek to include families in program planning and implementation, social support and system of care development. The FamilyLeadershipCouncil, consisting of parents who receive services through the CFH network, was created to give parents a voice in how the project operates. The FLC meets on the fourth Wednesday of every month from 6:00-8:00pm. Meetings are held at Achieve Tampa Bay and child care and dinner are provided to make it easier for parents to serve on the council.
The FLC, like the Leadership Council, serves in an oversight role and provides direction and feedback to Children’s Future Hillsborough regarding services, policies and budget. Parents who attend the meeting on a regular basis are paid a “parent consultation” stipend.
