Northside Family And School Support Teams

Northside Family and School Support Team (FASST) is a multidisciplinary case management program designed to assist children K through 5th grade and their families’ function more successfully at home, school and in the community. Funded by the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Public Schools, the FASST program utilizes the strengths of the family, school, community agencies, and naturally occurring community resources to develop a comprehensive support plan, directed and driven by the family to achieve goals set by the family.  Participation in FASST is voluntary and active involvement by the child’s parent/guardian is critical to the success of the child. Priority is given to serving the families of children who are at a documented risk of failure in school. Services are provided to the entire family.  The parent/guardian or school staff can make application to the program. The Northside FASST program also offers Kids in Transition (KIT) and Families in Transition(FIT) services. These two models utilize a train the trainer approach for guidance counselors to conduct support groups for students who experience difficulties in school due to marital disruption and grief issues ongoing psychoeducational classes are available to parents countywide on strengthening parenting skills, adjustment to divorce, and blended families are available.
