FASST (Mental Health Care, Inc.) PDF Print E-mail

The Family and School Support Teams (FASST) are funded by the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Public Schools. FASST provides family support and mental health services to children K through 5th grade and their families. The Mental Health Care FASST programs have been in operations since the early ‘90s serving large portions of Tampa and unincorporated Hillsborough County. The Plant City FASST team was developed in connection with THINK, a Children’s Board funded project with a focus on SED children beginning in 1998. The FASST program seeks to strengthen the functioning of children, families and communities by enhancing the protective factors and reducing factors which place them at risk. At the family level, the objectives intended to meet these goals focus on increasing academic achievement, decreasing disruptive behavior, increasing families’ ability to provide safe, structured environments and increasing families’ involvement in school. At the system level, objectives focus on increasing the system’s responsiveness to families, to improve access to services, increase the continuity of care, and enhance system integration.
