The Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute of the University of South Florida has over 25 years of experience fulfilling its mission to strengthen human services by providing research, training, education, technical assistance and support services to state and local public agencies, provider organizations, professionals, mental health consumers and consumer associations. The Department of Child and Family Studies (CFS) is one of the four academic departments within the Institute. The mission of CFS is to improve outcomes for children and families through applied research, evaluation, training, consultation, and information dissemination.
The CFS team includes researchers and scientists, individuals with significant experience in public systems, parents of children with special needs, and evaluators. This combination of expertise and experience positions CFS and the Institute in developing effective public human service systems that promote positive outcomes for children and families.
FMHI has been instrumental in supporting and promoting Children’s Future Hillsborough through several projects and initiatives including the RAICES/Promotoras Field Initiated Study, a collaborative initiative serving at risk limited English speaking and Spanish monolingual Latino children enrolled in grades K-5th Grade and their families.
