Cuscaden Early Intervention Center
Our mission is to provide comprehensive family services, advocating for the empowerment of families through community based partnerships. Cornerstone Family Ministries is a long established non-profit organization committed to supporting the well being of children and families. Cornerstone Family Ministries Children’s Services Department includes a Family Enrichment Center that houses a resource library and computer lab. The Family Enrichment Center offers seminars in parenting, nutrition, family finances, support groups and counseling. The Cuscaden Early Intervention Center is a nationally accredited developmental preschool program serving special needs and at risk children ages 0-5 years of age and their families who qualify for specialized programs and/or subsidized child care. The center is dedicated to promoting school readiness and early literacy. Children enrolled in the center receive ongoing developmental assessments, physical, occupational and speech therapies, literacy based curriculum, and case management. We place special emphasis on low teacher-child ratios, effective teacher interactions, and careful attention to individual care, education and guidance for each child. Parent participation is strongly encouraged and volunteer opportunities are available. In accordance with Child Care Food Program (CCFP) regulations, our nutrition program includes breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Our Family Support Program addresses the needs of the family as a whole, providing resources and referrals to ensure that the basic needs are provided for and that families can achieve their goals for self sufficiency. Family Support Services are available at the center. Family Support Services include needs assessments, consultations, parent education, donations of food, clothing and infant items, referrals to other service providers, and coordination with ACCESS services to apply and renew food stamps and TANF. The center has an on site family resource library with books, games, and educational kits, with a computer lab for parent training and job searches. We work with several community partners who provide services to our clients including the Alpha House. The Alpha House provides drug counseling to parents while the drug-exposed children receive care at our center.
